Postcards and/or Hunger

We are in the middle of National Postcard Week, from Sunday, May 6, through Saturday, May 12.  Do you ever sent postcards?  Are you a collector?  Can you remember receiving a special postcard?  People used to call these "penny post cards" because it cost a penny to mail one, as you can see by the photo below (click to enlarge).  Sending a postcard today will cost you 32-cents postage.

And one more thing Saturday, May 12th, is the day to Stamp Out Hunger.  Just fill a bag with non-perishable items and set it out beside your mailbox.  This is the 20th year, since letter carriers first picked up food donations in 1992.  Have you ever taken part in this food drive?  This video has more information.  (The video is also online, here.)

Bonnie -

Last night I thought I saw something about hunger and the post office food drive with postcards as an alternative?. I've had a food bank story thrumming in my head, but maybe I just need more sleep.

Lulu, you did. I took it out because of the video, thinking maybe nobody had seen it yet. Sorry, I'll put it back in.

Thanks Bonnie - thought I was imagining things. This week Lulu and her BFF Lola stop by the community food pantry.
