About Weekend Wordsmith

Weekend Wordsmith is a blogspot for would-be writers to pick up the Prompt of the Week as a challenge to write-write-write!

How it works
  • Early every weekend one of us will post a prompt, hoping to appeal to the wordsmith in you.
  • If that prompt sparks an idea, you write about it on your blog.
  • You leave a comment with a link to your actual post.
  • We'll add your link to the list of the week.
  • People who read this blog will click on your link and read what you wrote.
  • And that, dear friend, gives you readers ... and you may develop a following!
  • And here's how it DID work for one person, who is the quintessential user of these prompts:
DaisyBug said, "When I first saw this picture at the Weekend Wordsmith I thought 'What on EARTH am I going to write about THAT'. And then, all of a sudden a story sort of started in my head..."

Practice word = BIRTHDAY

Opening day is getting closer, and I think we should practice. I also need to see how well my idea works. Think about this practice word:

BIRTHDAY

Write anything you like, then leave a link in the comments section that will take me to the actual post in your blog. If you cannot figure out how to do that, at least tell me the name of your post when you comment. Ready? Go! When you tell me where to link your response, I'll add it here:

1. Bonnie (Bonnie's Books)
2. CJ (Write With Flair)
3. Anne (Neco's Notebook)
4. Eisel (Write With Flair)
5. Dewey (The Hidden Side of a Leaf)
6.
7. You're next!

Alone with a word

Someone said, "It is not safe to leave me alone with a word."
Oh, my! Tell me, will it be safe to leave YOU alone with a word each week?

Coming July 6th

Are you a weekend writer? Do you hate facing a blank page? Maybe you just need a little help to get the juices flowing, so welcome to Weekend Wordsmith.

How it works
Early every weekend I'll post a word, hoping to appeal to the wordsmith in you. If that word sparks an idea, you write about it on your blog. You leave me a comment with a link to your actual post. I add your link to the list of the week. People who read this blog will click on your link and read what you wrote. And that, dear friend, gives you readers ... and you may develop a following!

I'll post the first word on the first Friday of July, which happens to be the 6th. This will be "THE" spot for would-be writers to pick up the Word of the Week as a challenge to write-write-write! Something to think about until July:
