Friday the 13th

My sister Ann had a stroke on Friday, the 13th.  (Yes, I wrote it that way on purpose.)  She had a blood clot on the right side of her brain, which her doctor said could be treated easily with medicine.  She was fortunate, but unfortunately my mind wasn't on this blog and I didn't post anything.  Let's make this week a YES or NO vote about whether to keep up a blog that no one seems to need.  If you write something about a Friday — or about the number 13—  or about Friday the 13th, I'll link you here.  Otherwise, just tell me YES or NO.  Shall I keep posting prompts on this blog?

Heat wave

With the heat wave across the United States and Europe, it seems very appropriate to write about weather and temperatures.  I found this graphic with an article about the urban heat island of Atlanta.

"On these sweltering hot days of summer in Atlanta the surfaces of roofs and pavement can be as much as fifty to ninety degrees warmer than the air. You can feel the difference when you are out walking in it."

I confess

Think about confession.  Write a confession, or write about a confession, yours or someone else's.

My confession is that I forgot about you, Weekend Wordsmiths.  I forgot for two whole days.  I should have published this 48 hours ago, but I was busy with something else.  Okay, I sat in the dentist's office for four hours while my friend was undergoing who know what all, but nevertheless I should have thought of you.  Now I have, belatedly.

I got a fortune cookie on Sunday that said, "You are the center of every group's attention."  I don't know whether that's good or bad, whether the cookie was praising me or scolding me.  Do you have a fortune cookie story?  Or a dream that keeps coming back?

Cat ~ or kitty items

My friend Emily made this cat-faced tote, which I think is cute.  Do you have a cat, love a cat, hate a cat?  Do you (or someone you know) ever wear something with a cat or cats on it?  When I say "cat," do you think of big cats like lions and tigers and leopards, instead of domesticated kitties?  Tell us something about cats.
